I don’t know that I have ever listened to a message that was impacting from the moment it started until the moment it concluded…until today. It is so difficult to communicate thoroughly and it is much more difficult to ‘speak for God.’ Pastor Glenn Burris has done that today.
I am at a Master’s Commission meeting in Olympia, WA. The purpose of the ‘seminar’ is to learn about a program that is designed to place young people into ‘immersion discipleship.’ Immersion discipleship refers to placing young people into long term (at least 2 years) situations in which they don’t have a ‘compartment of life’ away from purposed teaching, observation and practical application of being a disciple of Jesus.
Glenn hit us hard with 7 principles from Solomon:
- God loves humility
- God loves lips who speak truth.
- God loves hands that protect the innocent
- God loves a heart that plans good things
- God loves feet that are quick to run to him
- God loves a truthful witness
- God loves a man who builds bridges
I was so convicted throughout the whole message. I don’t what to be one who stinks of pride. I want to be one who comes up with creative good deeds. I want to be quick to run to, to rely on, God. May the Lord Jesus help me. May I understand his kingdom more. May I be able to be one who points others to him.
JESUS: Take my pride away. (I am scared to be exposed…but may I be who God is asking me to be)
