What an incredible concert we just had! We had approximately 250 young people here! It is always so good to see new faces at Evergreen! Students heard the love of Jesus expressed in a fun and exciting environment. We pray that this planted seed has a lasting impact!
“…some seeds fell on fertile soil and produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted…” – Matthew 13:8
Please continue to pray for the youth of Hillsboro! God has called each one to relationship with him. This is why we meet, why we pray, why we host events, why we sacrifice Saturday nights, why we preach, why we serve…it is why we live: To see young people redeemed, restored and refined by the saving grace of Jesus!
“…so we praise God for the wonderful kindness he has poured out on us because we belong to his dearly loved Son. He is so rich in kindness that he purchased our freedom through the blood of his Son, and our sins are forgiven. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding…” – Ephesians 1:7-8
“…And I, the Son of Man, have come to seek and save those like him who are lost…” – Luke 19:10 (Jesus speaking of Zacchaeus)
I thank each of you for your involvement in the our most focused outreach this fall, THE HALLOWEEN BASH. Some of us were here until 2:15 AM cleaning up! The camaraderie was great and our attitudes were wonderful. It is amazing what we can accomplish when we work together. But even more so, it is amazing what happens when the Holy Spirit binds us together in unity. He takes our personalities, our giftings and desires and molds them together as one unit, created for one purpose: To bring the Kingdom of God to earth.
“…and this is his plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ-everything in heaven and on earth.” – Ephesians 1:10
In doing so we will exasperate the darkness and expose the enemy’s plans. He may win a battle or two, but the war is won, and we have aligned ourselves with the victor: Jesus Christ.
As you can see, I am full of faith. God has great plans for Evergreen Christian Center and the Gate.
This Saturday we are beginning a new teaching series and emphasis at the Gate for the month of November. It is Thanksgiving season, and as such, we would like our students to walk in an attitude of gratefulness. First of all, we would like to see them walk with a renewed sense of thankfulness for what Jesus has done in their lives. In light of that, we would also like to to instill in our students a sense of responsibility. We in America have almost unlimited access to spiritual, physical and financial resource. However, much of the rest of the world is not so blessed. Christian are persecuted and billions live in spiritual, physical and financial depravity. In is our belief that God is asking this generation to become aware of our wealth and resource in order to be a blessing to the rest of the world. I don’t believe that our generation is anything unique or special. God has always blessed people so that they will be a blessing. Observe God’s promise to Abraham:
“…I will cause you to become the father of a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and I will make you a blessing to others…” – Genesis 12:2
Observe his frustration at their (Israel’s) lack of concern for the oppressed:
“…they trample helpless people in the dust and deny justice to those who are oppressed…So I will make you groan as a wagon groans when it is loaded down with grain. Your fastest runners will not get away…” – Amos 2:7, 13
Our series is called: WIDE AWAKE – Blessed to be a Blessing
We will culminate the series at the end of the month by adopting, as a youth group, a Compassion International child. This will be our way of giving back. It will be one small step, but a step in the right direction.
Please be praying.
