Car Talk

April 29, 2005 by Isaac Hovet

Notice the number on the odometer.  You eyes aren’t deceiving you.  338,495.  We love this 1988 Camry.  We pray that it last at least until 500,000 miles.  If it doesn’t, I know that another will be provided, but wouldn’t it be so cool to see it turn 500,000?  I took both of our cars in for an oil change today and the crew at Oil Can Henry’s (very nice bunch) said they have seen only one other car that had more miles on it.  It was a Volvo with 400,000+.

Our other car is a 1991 Camry (light blue) with a mere 152,200 miles on it.  It is a recent addition to our family  We are looking forward to lots of miles for both of these cars.

I never want a car payment.  I never want a status car.  I choose now, at a relatively young age, to possess cars so I can get from point A to point B and, hopefully back to point A again (that is always a bonus).

I’ll take a BMW, Mercedes or Jag if it will last me or someone for a long time.  But put me in one of those so I can be cool?

No thanks.

I feel cool when mechanics rave about my car, not when socialites do.

Oh, and here is my little girl’s car.  It must have several thousand feet on it.

  1. You should send that number to Genisis!

We have a Toyota Previa with 221,000 plus miles. Yours must set some kind of a record!

I hope your little one gets lots of milage from that car. (start saving now for the one she will want in 18 years.)

  2. And bridger…Please check out the ‘award’ that has been bestowed on you under your lastest post on my blog.

    Hurrary for bridger!!!

  3. Bridger says:

Thanks so much for the encouraging words. 🙂

  4. Grammy says:

You are pretty clever…We are pretty proud. I especially loved how you ended your story…I love her car and hope she gets many “feet” out of it before she hands it down to Owen…:)

  5. Whit says:

Oh my goodness… you are my brother! (Not really, my brother lives in CO…) But there was one point in that post that I would swear was written by my brother…Wow.
