Pappy and I just listened to your audio post. We appreciate the depth we see in you and we can surely both relate to your struggle with addiction. We will pray for your source of pain to be uncovered and healed while you try and fail and try and fail, until you reach freedom and overcoming. We also need your prayers for the same, as well. And so it goes with the onion, until the heart of the matter is revealed.

I listened…hmmm…We’re all, in some way or another, in an Egypt-type bondage…slaves to some master we maybe didn’t “ask” for…but we all can be set free (He Himself said He came to set the captives free)…For me it’s simple obedience to the thing I know to be true and best…in every detail, in every bite, in every urge. Obedience is harder than it sounds. Much. (I have to talk outloud to myself sometimes…I CAN say no…) 🙂 I love you and long to see us all set free from self…

Wow, this is so much how I feel back and forth, back and forth. I feel good about eating one day, and then blow it the next. All I want is to be healthy, to be able to say no, to be able to slow down, to be able to have just a little. The Holy Spirit reminded this is a fruit of the Spirit, self-control. I have not really thought about it much in this aspect. I pray for this specifically now, for His fruit to be established in my life, all of it. I want to be able to enjoy food without being a slave like many have said. The lust of the flesh is hard to overcome, but I know that God sees our pain. When I struggle and continue to pray I will pray for “us” to understand what it is to be self-controlled, and to have Him help us with it.
