Safe and Sound in the US of A

March 24, 2005 by Isaac Hovet

There is something that I want you to read. Something that has caused my heart to sink. Please click on the link below to read a first person perspective from Iraq. The Post dated 03.23.05 is what hit me. It is titled . . .

Two years . . .

I hope that I can become more aware
So that I can be more compassionate.
I hope that I can become more compassionate
So that I can be more active.
I hope that I can be more active
So that one life is touched.
I hope one life is touched
So that one person can be more compassionate
Which would lead to one more person being active
And, then, another life would be touched.

That is stunning. In the sense that it leaves me stunned to read it. Life is so precious, and I am humbled by its fragility.

We need these recollections, these experiences, to remind us all of what is valuable…and true.

War is raging–both inside and outside–and there are many, many casualties. How am I so blessed to have survived?
